Martin R. Abroms, CPA, CVA
Marty Abroms is the President and Managing Shareholder of Abroms & Associates, P.C. Abroms & Associates provides accounting, tax, and consulting services for clients who have operations throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Hong Kong, China, Macao, and Puerto Rico. In addition to being a certified public accountant, Mr. Abroms is a certified valuation analyst. This special training allows him to perform business valuations needed for mergers and acquisitions, as well as estate tax and gift tax matters. During his career, he has taken an active advisory role in over 200 acquisitions and divestitures. In addition to his professional responsibilities as a CPA, he is an active investor in several privately held companies in which he serves on the Board of Directors.
Mr. Abroms began his career in 1981 at KPMG, an international accounting and consulting firm. In 1985, he moved to private industry as a corporate officer for the Anderson Companies, an affiliated group of companies with importing, wholesale distribution, retail, and specialty publishing operations. Some of these more recognized companies include Anderson Media, Books-A-Million, Hibbett Sports, Anderson Press, and C.R. Gibson. In 1995, Mr. Abroms founded Abroms & Associates, P.C., Florence, Alabama, to more closely focus on the continuing needs of the Anderson Companies as well as other clients with more complex tax planning and compliance needs.
Mr. Abroms graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1981 and was the recipient of the Turis Fidelas (for the highest grade point average) and the Keller Key (the top university service) awards. He was also the recipient of the Elijah Watt Sells Award, which is presented to those candidates that take all sections of the CPA exam at one time and receive the highest grades.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Abroms is active in the Shoals Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Alabama, and works with a number of other nonprofit charities and religious organizations.
Barry R. Jacobs, CPA, CVA
Barry began his public accounting career in 1995 after graduating from Freed-Hardeman University with a BBA in Accounting. Barry began work with Abroms and Associates in August of 1995, and passed the CPA exam shortly thereafter. Over his years with Abroms, Barry has gained extensive experience in Sub-Chapter S Corporation and partnership taxation, multi-state corporate and individual taxation, and compilation work. Barry was admitted as a shareholder of the firm in January 2003. Barry is a member of the American Society of Certified Public Accountants as well as the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. Barry strives to remain active in his local church, serving in a variety of functions.
Heather Kilpatrick, CPA
Heather joined the firm in 2002, and earned her CPA certification in 2007. She holds an Associate of Arts from Kilgore College and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of North Alabama, where she was a magna cum laude graduate and member of Phi Kappa Phi and Delta Mu Delta honor societies. Kilpatrickās tax and accounting experience multi-state corporate, partnership, and individual taxation as well as accounting and taxation of investment partnerships (i.e. hedge and private equity funds). She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. She has served on the Young CPA Board for the ASCPA and been active in active in efforts to present financial literacy curriculum to local high school students. Heather was admitted as a shareholder of the firm in 2013.
Kayla Hoofman, CPA
Kayla joined Abroms & Associates in 2006 and obtained her CPA certification in 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business degree and a Master of Professional Accountancy degree from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, where she was a summa cum laude graduate. Her experience includes individual, sub-chapter S corporation and partnership taxation, multi-state corporate and individual taxation, and compilations. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Camden, Tennessee. Kayla was admitted as a shareholder of the firm in 2013.
Agenda Davis, CPA
Agenda joined the firm in 2008 and earned her CPA certification in 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Accounting and Banking & Financial Services and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama where she graduated magna cum laude. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Delta Mu Delta, and Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Societies. She was also active in Phi Beta Lambda, the Alpha Chi Accounting Club, and was the recipient of the UNA Promising Alumni award. Agenda’s experience includes individual, partnership, sub-chapter S corporation, and non-profit taxation. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is also an active member of Beech Creek Church in Clifton, Tennessee. Agenda was admitted as a shareholder of the firm in 2021
Andrea Murphy, CPA
Andrea earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1998, graduating magna cum laude, and received a Master of Business Administration in 2002, both from the University of North Alabama, (UNA). While at UNA, she held membership in Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Theta Chi, and Delta Mu Delta honor societies. Andrea also served as the President of the Alpha Chi accounting club, was selected twice for Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities and was the recipient of the Martin Mark of Excellence. Andrea gained her CPA certification in 2007 and her Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) certification in 2012. She is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. She also remains active in her local church.
